Nature-based Approaches for a Resilient Future: Bridging the Gaps.
Are you concerned about the impacts of fires and floods?
Dr Debbie Early and Nuria Munoz share personal experiences of storms in Aotearoa New Zealand and Valencia, Spain. Dr Early discusses how public health, biodiversity loss and climate change intersect, new ways of understanding this, and the importance of this interconnectedness for our health and wellbeing. This is critical as we design for a resilient future.

to support mitigation and adaptation.
Are you wanting to take a more sustainable and regenerative approach, but don't know how to? Do you feel overwhelmed?
The foundation of action is awareness. By the end of this workshop, you will leave with a renewed sense of purpose, a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness of the challenges facing public and environmental health, and a practical toolkit to drive meaningful action. This unique, trailblazing approach, draws together cutting-edge multidisciplinary research personal story telling, reflective writing and creative activities.
A creative, two-part approach reducing the impact of climate change (mitigation) while we adjust and become more resilient (adaptation) is needed. By moving awareness to action, individually and collectively, we overcome hurdles by collaborating with others in our community making similar changes, working together across interdisciplinary teams and intergenerationally. Elements have been successfully piloted internationally, across disciplines, and the program refined. You won't want to miss it!
Depending on your needs, I can customise this program with online or in-person delivery. I would love to hear what your requirements are and how I assist you. Please connect with me here.

Action starts with Awareness including Self-awareness.
Benefits of self-awareness include:
-managing thoughts, behaviours and emotions (self management)
-improved decision making
-setting goals and knowing strengths and weaknesses
-improved relationships due to better understanding of others
-improved social awareness
Awareness is a way of being, but is different to mindfulness. Mindfulness focuses on the present moment and is inward-focused, but not self-absorption. Awareness focuses on the environment and is outward focused. Awareness and mindfulness are complementary and can deepen nature connection. This can be potent when blended with hope, meaning and purpose with experiential learning, which is a process, rather an outcome and is learning by doing. It is important to recognise that disenfranchised grief can sometime come up for people. Unrecognised, this can increase feelings of loneliness.
Which professionals will benefit and why?
Offered to support to professionals developing policies for public and environmental health, particularly:
-medical professionals involved in social prescribing
-architects involved in mitigative design
-parks, recreation and tourism professionals involved in regenerative tourism
-conservation professionals
-others who are looking to make changes
